(Merial) Equioxx (firocoxib) is a nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) that is designed to relieve pain and inflammation associated with equine osteoarthritis. Equioxx is a highly selective COX-2 inhibitor that blocks the production of prostaglandins responsible for inflamation while sparing prostaglandins that support blood flow to the stomach and kidneys. Dosage is designed to provide 24-hour pain relief in an oral paste form.
